ACT Test Information

ACT or ACT Plus Writing
- Taking the ACT is encouraged!
- Students can register to take the ACT anytime at act.org
- Juniors will register to take the ACT in the Spring. Dates for ACT testing TBD.
- Preferred by regional colleges
- Required by ND Scholars program in June following Junior year.
- Required for ND State Scholarship by February National Test Date during Senior year
- Tests: Reading, Mathematics, English, Science and Writing.
- College Readiness scores of: English 18, Math 22, Reading 22, Science 23
- College Algebra (for Dual Credit) requires a 21 in Math (or you can take the Accuplacer).
- Perfect sub-score 36 and perfect composite is 36
- Students can look at act.org for what to bring (and what NOT to bring).
ASVAB Information
The ASVAB is always offered in the Fall (and sometimes in the Spring) at one of the Bismarck Public High Schools; Century, Bismarck High, and Legacy rotate where the test is taken each year. There is no cost associated with the ASVAB and students MUST be at least 16 years of age to take the test.
Testing Date:
October 15, 2025 at Legacy High School at 8:30 am. Any students wanting to take the ASVAB will need to reach out to their counselor to get signed up.
PSAT Information
The PSAT/NMSQT Digital Exam (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) is designed to help prepare students for the SAT, college, and careers for juniors and sophomores. PSAT testing will be held October 7, 2025 in C102. Andy students interested in taking the PSAT must reach out to Mr. Kurtz. The cost for the test is $21.00. Students can sign up at Total Registration.
Juniors who take the PSAT/NMSQT may enter the National Merit Scholarship Program, an academic competition for recognition and scholarships. Sophomores can take the exam for practice before their junior year
Do NOT to forget to charge your computer for testing. You may bring an approved calculator to use for MATH sections only!
As per CollegeBoard and PSAT, on test day, students will be asked to turn their cell phone off, put a sticky note on their phone with the student’s name written on it (sticky note will be provided), and the student will place their phone in a clear plastic tub that will be placed in the front of the room. Students will receive their phone at the completion of testing.
