Legacy High School ACT Code 350-161

- Test Options: The ACT, ACT + Science, ACT + Writing, or ACT + Science + Writing. Writing is rarely required. Students are strongly encouraged to research if this component is necessary for them. 
- Taking the ACT is encouraged! Many scholarships, colleges, programs, and class placements require an ACT score.
- Students can register to take the ACT anytime at act.org. Space is limited and seats fill quickly. 

  • Preferred by regional colleges.
  • Required by ND Scholars program by June following Junior year.
  • Required for the Post-Secondary Ready Component of the ND State Scholarship by February of Senior year.
  • Tests: Reading, Mathematics, English, Science (optional), and Writing (optional).
  • College Readiness scores of: English 18, Math 22, Reading 22, Science 23
  • College Algebra (for Dual Credit) requires a 21 in Math (or you can take the Accuplacer).
  • Perfect sub-score 36 and perfect composite is 36
  • Students can look at act.org for what to bring (and what NOT to bring).

What:  The PSAT/NMSQT Digital Exam (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) is designed to help prepare students for the SAT, college, and careers.  

Who:  Juniors and Sophomores

When:  TBD October 2026

Where:  Legacy High School in room C102  (Report time to be in room C102 on test day is 8:20 a.m.  All students should be completed with testing by Noon.)

Why:  11th graders who take the PSAT/NMSQT may enter the National Merit Scholarship Program, an academic competition for recognition and scholarships.  10th graders can take the exam for practice before their junior year!

Cost:  $21.00 

Sign-up Deadline:  NOON on TBD September 2026

Information

The ASVAB is always offered in the Fall (and sometimes in the Spring) at one of the Bismarck Public High Schools; Century, Bismarck High, and Legacy rotate where the test is taken each year. There is no cost associated with the ASVAB and students MUST be at least 16 years of age to take the test.

An ASVAB score of 50+ is one of the criteria for the Military Ready Component on the ND State Scholarship.  Students are strongly encouraged to take the ASVAB during their Junior year if they are pursuing the ND State Scholarship or a future military career.
